Head Of Jury

Ng Tian It Head of Advertising Jury

Arguably one of the best change agents in the business, Singapore-born Ng Tian It has this uncanny ability to make the impossible possible.

The meteoric turnaround of ailing brands like McCann Erickson and Batey has cemented his reputation as a master steward of agencies engulfed in rocky seas.

Tian It’s amiable and relaxed demeanour belies a steely resolve and resilience honed from the day he graduated from Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles with a degree that had nothing to do with advertising. Unfazed by the handicap, he went on to become the Best New Art Director in the Singapore Creative Circle Awards 1996 and winner of all coveted international, regional and local creative awards soon after.

Never one to contend with status quo, Tian It has embarked on the herculean challenge of bringing China advertising to the world stage, by moving to Shanghai to become the Executive Creative Director of Lowe China in 2007.

In January 2010, Lowe Worldwide has decided it’s time for Tian It to take his place on the world stage by naming him the Global Creative Director of its prized Unilever Clear haircare brand. While the new role requires him to relocate back to Singapore, Tian It is also entrusted with leading the local office as its Chief Creative Officer.

Victor Ng

Victor Ng

Victor started out as a young, naïve copywriter at Leo Burnett Singapore a decade ago. Somehow he managed to catch a break at CCA 2003 and is thankful for the ride that followed:

Scored more creative awards, hosted in similarly exciting cities; Recruited by Mother London; Judged D&AD, Cannes, Clio, London International, New York Festivals and Spikes Asia; Became Chief Creative Officer of Euro RSCG Singapore; Nominated for Asia Creative Of The Year (MEDIA), Creative Director Of The Year (Singapore Hall Of Fame) and Most Influential Creative Director (IAS); Won SEA Agency Of The Year (MEDIA).

Victor is currently enjoying a long-overdue break -- before his addiction to advertising kicks in again.

Thomas Yang

Thomas Yang

Thomas Yang graduated from Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts back in 1992. He was never really good at being a student.

Over the past 15 years, he has worked at agencies such as Lowe, BBDO, O&M, M&C Saatchi, 10am Communications,JWT and DDB.

In 1998, after winning the Best New Art Director award at the Singapore Creative Circle Awards, he has since gone on to win over 200 awards at every major regional and international award shows, including D&AD, The One Show, Cannes, Clio, AdFest and The Spikes.

In his current role as Associate Creative Director at DDB Singapore, he drives the work on several important businesses like Philips and ANZ besides helping drive the agency's creative awards agenda.

He believes that strategic thinking precedes craft. Nonetheless, a great art director is one who is flexible. Perhaps the best signature style of an art director is not to boast one.

On a much more personal front, Thomas Yang is a hardcore cyclist and a Teochew Swatow boy. Most importantly, he is a proud father two daughter.

His children are his Grand Prix.

Tan Thuang Tee

Tan Thuang Tee

Thuang Tee (or T3, like Changi's swankiest terminal) cut his teeth on brands like Sony, Sony Ericsson, Nokia, and Tiger Beer. Driving through-the-line work that pushed KPIs—and envelopes—for Bates 141, 10AM Communications, and DDB. It was at the latter that his adventures with RAPP began. As Creative Head at RAPP, he now bleeds for StarHub, Standard Chartered Bank, Tiger Airways, McDonald's, Courts and Hewlett Packard. And drives the agency's data-driven creative services, adding a media-agnostic edge to its integrated marketing portfolio. He plucked the outfit from advertising obscurity, and led it to become one of the region's most respected CRM and Direct Marketing hot shops—all in the space of a mere year. Along the way, RAPP picked up its first wins at the Effie and Marketing Magazine Agency of the Year Awards in 2010, adding to his cache of metal-ware. But his greatest achievement yet, is fatherhood.

He started working at McCann Sydney, and since then has worked with LOWE, Ogilvy, Publicis, Y&R, FCB and is now the Creative Director at iris Singapore. He's worked in Australia, India, Colombo, Dubai, New York and Singapore. Over the years, Cannes, D&AD, and the One Show are some of the awards he's won. He also wonders why people write these things in the 3rd person. This isn't an interview. Tom has also learned to surf badly, been caught in an assassination attempt, made a film about an overweight Sikh with questionable dance moves, had a catheter, crashed his Dad's car, been ejected from a cricket stadium dressed as Steve Irwin, been ejected from karaoke dressed as Axl, lost in the desert, been suspended from the school band, thrown a frisbee at Ben Affleck (hit Jennifer Garner), robbed by the owner of an Elephant Orphanage, and kicked by a Kangaroo.

Sharon Chan

Sharon Chan

While scrutinising the fine print at a local sweatshop, Sharon stumbled upon the Big Idea squatting on legs, and eventually found her calling in integrated marketing communications. This discovery led to more fulfilling adventures at Batey Ads, though she finally traded the "y" for an "s" at Bates 141. Passionate about problem solving, Sharon believes that solutions are most innovative when they are the product of cut-through strategy and creativity. This has led to her involvement in direct mail, point-of-sale, above-the-line and integrated ideas that have won accolades in both arenas.
